TENE MEHODIHI COVID 19 POLICIES 2020
These policies provides the preventive measures taken by Tudese’cho Wholistic Indigenous Leadership Development, the governing body for Tene Mehodihi, for activities in 2020 or until replaced by the board. Everyone needs to play a part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. Thank you for reading.
Backcountry Campout Participant numbers
Maximum attendance for guide training will be 10, with two staff to make a total of 12 people. For youth day trips will be 10 youth and two staff for a total of 12 people.
2. Leader / Attendee Pre-Screening
Participants displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (Cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, fever) are asked not to attend.
If a member of their household or visitor to a participant home has been outside of the health region, Northern BC, Canada, within the past 14 days, they will be told to stay home and continue self isolating.
1. Each participant must sign the document, TWILD COVID-19 Refresher, provided to them at the beginning of each event.
2. Each participant must complete the TWILD COVID Self Declaration form.
3. Each participant will be asked to complete a TWILD COVID-19 Take 5 at the beginning of each day.
3. Guide Training (Classroom)
Guide training will be 2 days classroom and 4 days backcountry. During the classroom activities the following rules will be followed:
1. Hand sanitizer and masks are provided.
2. All participants and staff must wash their hands immediately when entering the building/learning area. Sanitizer must be used in between hand washes.
3. Workspaces will be sanitized between groups and during groups when possible.
4. Social distancing will apply between workstations/tables will be well spaced and 1 person per workstation/table.
4. Guide Training (Backcountry) Camp Regulations
Guide training will be 2 days classroom and 4 days backcountry. During the backcountry activities the following rules will be followed:
1. When tents are required, each tent must be of single occupancy (unless people have been living together in the same household)
2. Physical Distancing must be followed (minimum 2 meters)
Meals will be prepared individually or in the designated tent groups as defined by para 1 above (to ensure bear aware policies all food will be prepared and consumed outside of the tent).
5. Participant Transportation
Some activities performed by the leaders include moving equipment and additional participants. The following rules are put in place to promote physical distancing:
1. Face coverings are required for all occupants (except when travelling with the same household or travelling alone).
2. Maximum two people in a single cab and four people in a crew cab vehicle.
a. An empty seat must be maintained between each occupant.
3. If a float plane or helicopters is required, participants must follow company protocols.
6. Physical Distancing
The best defence against spreading COVID-19 is to minimize contact with others including:
1. Avoiding crowded places and non-essential gatherings
2. Avoiding common greetings such as hugs and handshakes.
3. Limiting contact with people at higher risk (Elders, older adults, those in poor health)
7. Face Coverings
It is recommended for participants to wear face coverings while working in close proximity to others. It is important that when indoors with others, a face covering should be worn. Indoor areas include:
1. In vehicles (If carpooling with people outside your home)
2. In buildings (DL gear shack, The Haven, Classrooms, homes)
3. Work spaces will be placed 2 m between each table.
